TSN Kunye stocks the Dyness battery range in South Africa, from a 2.56 kWh wall unit at R8 410 including VAT up to the 16.07 kWh PowerBrick. Every price on this page is a live store price, VAT included, supply only.
What Dyness is for
Dyness is a battery-only brand, which is the point. If your inverter is already in and you want more storage, or you want storage that is not tied to the inverter manufacturer’s own stack, this is the range people reach for. The DL5 at 5.12 kWh is the most common single unit in South African homes after the inverter-brand batteries.
Note the two DL5 listings. They are the same 5.12 kWh unit at two warranty lengths: R13 900 with seven years, R15 360 with ten. R1 460 for three more years of cover is a straightforward decision and we list both rather than quietly selling you the shorter one.
Dyness wall-mount and standalone battery prices
| Model | Capacity | Price incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Dyness DL 2.56kWh | 2.56 kWh | R8 410 |
| Dyness DL5 5.12kWh, 7 year warranty | 5.12 kWh, 51.2 V 100 Ah | R13 900 |
| Dyness DL5.0C Pro 5.12kWh | 5.12 kWh | R14 630 |
| Dyness DL5 5.12kWh, 10 year warranty | 5.12 kWh, 51.2 V 100 Ah | R15 360 |
| Dyness PowerBrick 14.3kWh | 14.3 kWh | R35 110 |
| Dyness PowerBrick MAX 16.07kWh | 16.07 kWh, IP20 indoor | R36 570 |
| Dyness PowerBrick PLUS 16.07kWh | 16.07 kWh, IP65 outdoor rated | R37 300 |
Dyness STACK prices
| Component | What it is | Price incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Dyness STACK100 BDU | Control unit for the STACK100 | R14 630 |
| Dyness STACK100 battery module | 5.12 kWh module | R16 820 |
| Dyness STACK280 BDU | Control unit for the STACK280 | R22 670 |
| Dyness STACK280 battery module | 14.3 kWh module | R35 840 |
A STACK is not one item. You need the BDU control unit plus however many battery modules you want on it. A STACK100 at 10.24 kWh is the BDU at R14 630 plus two modules at R16 820 each, which is R48 270, not R16 820. We say so here because quotes that leave the BDU out are common.

Will a Dyness battery work with my inverter?
Usually, but it has to be checked, not assumed. The Dyness low-voltage range is around 51.2 V and is listed as compatible with most of the common South African hybrid inverters, but the inverter has to carry the Dyness communication profile in its firmware and the two have to be on each other’s approved list. Tell us which inverter you have and we will confirm it against the manufacturer’s list rather than guess. Mixing a battery and an inverter that are not approved for each other voids warranties and is unsafe.
What is not in these prices
Every price on this page is supply only, for the equipment itself. A working installed system also needs:
- Mounting rails, roof hooks or brackets for your actual roof type, clamps and end caps
- DC and AC isolators, breakers, fuses and surge protection
- Battery communication and current-transformer leads, and the monitoring dongle where it is not supplied with the unit
- DC and AC cabling, MC4 connectors, earthing and bonding
- Distribution board work, and often a DB upgrade
- Installation labour and commissioning
- Certificate of Compliance, and SSEG or municipal registration where your council requires it
We quote those against the real site. Anyone publishing a single installed-from number without seeing your roof and your distribution board is guessing.
Questions about Dyness batteries in South Africa
How much does a Dyness battery cost in South Africa?
From R8 410 including VAT for the 2.56 kWh DL, R13 900 for the 5.12 kWh DL5 with a seven year warranty, and R36 570 for the 16.07 kWh PowerBrick MAX. Supply only.
What is the difference between PowerBrick MAX and PowerBrick PLUS?
Both are 16.07 kWh. The MAX is IP20, which means indoor, dry installation only. The PLUS is IP65 and rated for outdoor mounting. R730 is the difference, and it matters entirely on whether you have an indoor wall for it.
Do I need the BDU with a Dyness STACK?
Yes. The BDU is the control unit and the stack does not work without it. Budget for the BDU plus the modules, not the modules alone.
How long will a 5.12 kWh Dyness battery run my house?
On essentials, lights, plugs, WiFi, a fridge and a freezer, roughly five to eight hours. Add a geyser or a pool pump and that collapses. If you want a figure for your house rather than a rule of thumb, our System Designer works from your actual load.
Does the price include installation?
No. Every price here is supply only. TSN Kunye is also a solar EPC and installs at every scale, so ask us for an installed quote if you want us to do the whole job.
