Huawei SUN2000-5KTL-L1 5kW Single Phase Smart Energy Controller

A 5kW single-phase hybrid inverter from Huawei’s L1 residential range, built for a family home that wants solar by day and a battery for the evening. Huawei calls it a Smart Energy Controller rather than an inverter, because it manages PV, battery and grid together.

What this model does

• 5kW rated output (5,500VA apparent), 25A maximum output current, on 220/230/240V single phase.
• Takes up to 7.5kWp of panels as standard, and up to 10kWp with SUN2000-450W-P optimizers fitted, so a shaded or awkward roof can carry more array than the inverter rating suggests.
• 2 MPP trackers, MPPT range 90 to 560V, maximum PV input 600V, 12.5A per tracker.
• Charges the battery at 5kW while delivering 5kW AC at the same time, which is what lets a system refill the bank and run the house on a good solar day.
• Works with the Huawei LUNA2000 / Smart ESS battery range (5kWh to 30kWh) at 350 to 560V, or LG Chem RESU. Note the maximum PV input drops to 495V when paired with an LG battery.
• 98.4% peak efficiency, 97.8% European weighted.
• AI-powered active arc-fault protection, plus Type II surge protection on DC and AC, insulation monitoring and residual current monitoring.
• 12kg and only 365 x 365 x 156mm, naturally convection cooled with no fan, so it is silent and one person can mount it. IP65 rated.
• Monitoring through FusionSolar over built-in WLAN, with optional Ethernet or 4G dongles.

Backup during an outage needs the Backup Box-5000. The inverter on its own runs solar and battery but does not island the house when the grid drops. If load shedding is the reason you are buying, budget for the Backup Box too, and ask us to spec it with you.
