Who this suits
An owner of a Sigen energy system who wants EV charging that cooperates with the rest of the installation rather than competing with it. Because it integrates with the Sigen system, the charger can be told to draw from surplus solar rather than pulling the house into a new peak.
Before you buy, check
- Your vehicle’s onboard charger. 7kW is the charger’s output ceiling. If the car’s onboard charger is rated lower, the car sets the speed, not this unit.
- Single-phase supply. A 7kW AC charger is the single-phase option. Three-phase properties can go faster with an 11kW or 22kW unit.
- Cable length. This unit ships with a 5m Type 2 cable. Measure from the mounting position to the car’s charge port, on the side the port is actually on.
What else you will need
A dedicated circuit with its own protection back to the distribution board, and commissioning within the Sigen system so solar-surplus charging behaves as intended.
